Promotion Requirements

 REQUIREMENTS FOR PROMOTION

 
CREDITS
Students must earn 255 units of credit during the seventh and the eighth grades combined to be promoted to the ninth grade. It is the responsibility of the student and parents to keep a cumulative account of the number of credits earned. The counseling staff will notify parents of those students who are deficient in credits and under consideration for retention. There are four quarters in a school year.   Each quarter, a student with a passing grade earns five (5) credits per class/per period. Credits are earned by receiving an A, B, C, D, or P on quarter grades. Students making appropriate progress earn thirty-five credits each quarter, 140 credits per year. 
 
 
CRITERIA FOR 8th GRADE PROMOTION TRIP AND PROMOTION DANCE (or other 8th grade trips):
Students must earn at least 255 credits, have no more than five (5) days of suspension in their eighth grade year and have no outstanding fines in order to participate in the promotion ceremony.  It is the responsibility of the student and parents to keep a cumulative account of the nubmer of credits earned.
